Abortion Subsidies Remain!

March 5, 2010

Obamacare 3.0 Lives!

After 34 speeches, three sharp election setbacks in Virginia, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and a seven-hour seminar, the president announced Wednesday one last push to pass this health care reform. The final act was carefully choreographed with a couple of shows of bipartisanship:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) explained what "bipartisanship" means; a bill "can be bipartisan even though the votes might not be bipartisan. Because [Republicans] have made their imprint on this," she said. As for the Blair House Drama, it rivals Reality TV. Unfortunately, the televised exercise had the unintended consequence of showing the Republicans to be highly informed on the subject and possessed of principles. Late last year, proponents of Health Care Reform were marveling at how close they were to overhauling the system. The only remaining detail was how to pay for it. That has generally been the problem with health care reform: cost, the disagreeable absence of a free lunch. "The time for debate is now over", declared the nation's leader. "The time for an up or down vote is here," he said.

Amazingly, Abortion Subsidies remain! Surprised? Syndicated Columnist Charles Krauthammer put it this way, “You can only be disillusioned if you were once illusion-ed.”

Stay tuned.

Announcing Pastors' Briefing...

On Wednesday, March 31st at 9:15 a.m., immediately following the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, Louisiana Family Forum, in co-operation with the Louisiana Baptist Convention Committee of Moral and Social Concerns, Alliance Defense Fund and the Family Research Council will host a 2010 Legislative Pastors Briefing.

The purpose of this Briefing is to discuss necessary actions with regard to faith and family threats in Louisiana and America, specifically a call to renew our resolve to “speak His word boldly” and skillfully.

On the Louisiana legislative front, three imperatives emerge for this Legislative Session: Religious Freedom Bill, Ultrasound before Abortion Act, Louisiana Department of Social Services move to regulate church nursery, day care and mother’s day out programs. Finally, a special update on the 5th Circuit Court, Court of Appeals decision in “Infant J” birth certificate saga and Louisiana’s new order to post two fathers on Infant J’s birth certificate.

The Governor’s Prayer Breakfast (Not an LFF Event) requires tickets and reservations. You can secure your seat by contacting Stephanie Bennett 225-772-9230 or by visiting www.lagpb.org. (I will be attending the event).

The Prayer Breakfast takes place 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and doors open at 6:30 a.m. It includes a full breakfast and program. The Pastors’ Briefing will begin immediately upon adjournment in the Cypress II Room, directly across the hall.

The Briefing is free of charge but registration is required. Please contact LFF at info@lafamilyforum.org or by calling 225-344-8533 to register.

Many today are asking, do we build an ark or do we focus on rebuilding the wall? My best answer is, Noah’s family made it into the Ark and Nehemiah’s generation experienced the wall. I believe we must not neglect either. I look forward to seeing you Wednesday, March 31st, at the Crowne Plaza for a time of encouragement, education and inspiration.

I'll see you and your key team members there!

God bless!
