Final Stretch!
It's the final stretch of the Louisiana legislative session and your LFF Action Staff is glad to see it come! So-called "fiscal only" sessions are fast and hard with only sixty days to complete legislation from start to finish. And with each lawmaker allowed to offer five non-fiscal bills, the session just gets that much tighter. The session must end by Thursday, June 25th, so even though everyone would rather watch LSU in the College World Series, your LFF Action Team and lawmakers are hard at work!
Yesterday, we hosted a pro-life, pro-family day at the Capitol to promote HB 340, the Religious Freedom Amendment, HB 517, the Healthcare Workers' Conscience Act, HB 60, the Birth Certificate Clarification Bill and to oppose a few anti-family bills. You can continue to contact your lawmakers and ask them to support these bills. Here is their status:
-
HB 340 - Waiting on House and Senate to vote Yes on Conference Committee Vote.
-
HB 60 - Filibustered in Senate yesterday. Will take 26 votes to bring the bill back up for a vote.
-
HB 517 - Waiting on House to vote Yes on Senate Concurrence.
LFF Action: Please remember LFF in your financial giving right now. During the Legislative Session and summer months, all of our energy is focused on working to protect family values at the capitol, rather than fundraising. You can help us right now by clicking here and giving your best gift!
